The Spirit of Damascene Color

The legacy of one of the earliest Near East Painters

Date of Publication: April 2026

In a moment that blends precision with heritage, Samir Aita, the artist’s grandson, carries on a meaningful family tradition by authenticating the Gold Edition of the Art Book. The process begins with the careful placement of a traditional hand stamp on the opening pages—a gesture rich in history and significance.
He then signs the book by hand, adding a personal touch that bridges past and present. In the final step, he pauses to review the work, ensuring that every detail preserves the spirit and authenticity of his grandfather’s legacy.

«Here is one of the traditional reception halls of the Damascene aristocracy, with its exquisite interior of intricate wooden tracery, red, green, and gold its prominent colours. Koranic inscriptions adorn the frieze. Marble of rare colour and beauty forms the floor and fountain of the adjoining cool and refreshing courtyard. Seated on the be-cushioned diwans that are a feature of Arab furnishings, the host converses with his guests. The entire craftsmanship is executed by local artists».
